I am reading in the Gospel of Luke this morning and Jesus just said “Hello” in a major way.
In Luke 4:3-7 Jesus is being tempted by the devil. As I read this portion of scripture, Jesus asked me if He is not above temptation. I know Jesus is without sin, so how far above temptation am I? Obviously I am not above it all, the difference between Jesus’ temptation and my temptation is that He knew not to take the bait.
Do you know how to, or can you, resist temptation that will lead to something you may not want to do (i.e sin)?
Another interesting thing here is that the devil says, “I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me.” STOP RIGHT HERE!!! Are you giving the devil any authority over any part of your life thus losing all the splendor of your life? If you are STOP IT!
A few days ago I wrote about Jesus’ last word’s being, “It is finished.” (John 19:30). Jesus endured the cross in part so we would have authority over the devil and all his trappings. If we choose to give the devil a stronghold in our lives, the devil will take it.
Remember, no matter where you are, what you are doing, how dire the circumstances, Jesus loves you and He is there for you. Just call out to Him.
