There is a friend of mine that God has put in my life. There is zero debating this point. I know God put him in my life for this time, for LifePoint, for me. I have sought his advice. I ask him what he thinks. I ask him what he would like to see LifePoint become. His honesty is amazing. I not only love the honesty he gives me, but I NEED his honesty.
The first post ever to this blog was titled “Why.” As I have sought Jesus as He continues to strengthen LifePoint, He has made the reason for LifePoint so much clearer than I ever could have first imagined.
There are some great churches in Aiken, Augusta and the CSRA. I choose to go to Stevens Creek in Augusta. Thirty miles, and depending on traffic thirty-five to forty minutes from home. For the sake of this post and the current location of LifePoint, let’s concentrate on Aiken.
Aiken has some well established and good churches. Millbrook. Cedar Creek. St. Johns. Second Baptist. First Baptist. South Aiken COG. South Aiken Pres. These are just a few churches in which God has blessed Aiken.
With these churches and many others in Aiken, why is Jesus asking me to start LifePoint? Why now? Why Aiken?
Aiken churches are not reaching the eighteen to thirty something age demographic. The majority of Aiken churches have elected to continue to do church that is traditional, that is “normal.” These normal traditional church’s are intimidating. They are uncomfortable. They scare people who do not know Jesus. These churches especially intimidate those who are eighteen to forty and do not know Jesus.
I have spoken to many Christians in Aiken that have told me that they are afraid to invite friends to church because they believe their church isn’t the place to bring a person seeking Jesus. THAT SCARES ME!!!
Aiken churches are great at teaching God’s people. Aiken churches are great at making Christian’s more knowledgeable about The Bible. However, it has been my experience that Aiken churches want the person who doesn’t know Jesus to conform to the church and then be open to receive Christ. LifePoint wants the opposite. LifePoint is comfortable with anyone who NEEDS Jesus as their personal Saviour. LifePoint is not about making believers comfortable, LifePoint is about making nonbelievers comfortable.
Please understand me… Aiken churches are doing a great job. I concede what I wrote above can be construed as negative, but please do not take it as such. Jesus is bringing LifePoint to Aiken to reach those who desperately need Him, Jesus isn’t bringing LifePoint to compete with other churches. Aiken needs all the Jesus led churches we can get!
As I have said before, LifePoint will pray that all churches everywhere will operate in their God given fullness and that all churches will glorify Jesus Christ!
LifePoint is different. LifePoint will always be different. Jesus was different. LifePoint desires needs to be like HIM.
LifePoint… Get ready!!!
