Jennifer and I have been asked by friends and family why we choose to drive to Augusta for church.
To some, driving to Augusta from our home isn’t a big deal, but to others they think driving thirty five minutes - ONE WAY - is just crazy. To those who think we are crazy, inevitably the price of gas is always an issue.
When Jennifer and I moved back to Aiken we could not find a church home. We tried. We tried again. We tried again. We became frustrated, discouraged and almost threw in the towel. (Ask Jennifer about the time we visited a church for the very first time and she kept the nursery. True story! Ask her.)
One night Jennifer, John and I were watching Jeopardy (we love game shows). We hate commercials so we record Jeopardy every night and start watching it about ten minutes after it starts. That way we can fast forward the DVR through the commercials and just watch our show without interruption.
So Jennifer and I are sitting at home watching Jeopardy and for whatever reason I forgot to fast forward through the commercials. A Stevens Creek Church commercial came on. I watched it. I hit rewind on the DVR and watched it again. I saw it for the third time as Jennifer watched it. We decided to try Stevens Creek that weekend.
We went to Stevens Creek and found where God wanted us. I could complain that I have to drive seventy minutes to go to church and come home. I could complain about gas prices… but God sent my family to The Creek and we thank Him for our church family everyday.
