I ordered some new glasses about ten days ago. I received them today.
When I first put my new glasses on I thought someone got my prescription wrong. I couldn’t see. I couldn’t focus. My eyes and my brain were trying to work together, but for whatever reason I just couldn’t see.
As the day went on I forced myself to wear my new glasses. Slowly but surely, my eyesight came into focus. The sharpness that I enjoyed with my old gasses came back to me. As more time passed I realized that my new glasses gave me better vision than my old ones did.
The first reaction I had to my new glasses was to take them off, put them back in their case and continue wearing my old tried and true glasses. Now as I have worn these new glasses for hours I realize the power these glasses give my vision.
Is there something new that God has been trying to give you that you have put off or not accepted because you are comfortable with what He has already provided you with? Are you content to live in God’s blessing of yesterday or do you want something new and fresh? Do you believe your vision of what God has in store for you is crystal clear, or do you think you need to have better focus of the vision God has given you for your life?
I want God’s vision for my life to be clearer to me. For me to get this clarity, sometimes I have to be a little blind at first and trust that God knows what He is doing. Like my eye glasses today. At first I thought everything was wrong, but I chose to trust my optometrist and the people who made my glasses and everything came into focus. It took a little bit of time, but my vision became clear.
I am impatient, I admit it. I want what God has for me tomorrow, today. The Bible tells me to learn to be content in all that I have Philippians 4:12 , and I am learning, but I also know that Bible teaches me that Jesus’ purpose was to give me a rich and satisfying life John 10:10.
I am after all of what Jesus has in store for me! Are you after all that Jesus has for you?
This is a very good and inciteful blog. All things become clear with time, (a little) patience, hard work, and faith in God. Thanks Gil
