I sell jewelry. One of the jewelry lines I sell is Hearts on Fire. Hearts on Fire diamonds are the best diamonds in the world. Hollywood red carpet type of stuff.
Hearts of Fire is run by its majority owner Glenn Rothman. Glenn is a “rah rah” guy and he is a visionary leader. He is a fierce optimist and always sees things in the most positive light.
As I have blogged before, the jewelry industry is on pins and needles as the world economy seems to be weakening by the second. Glenn Rothman understands this, however, he is shouting as loud as he can to the world jewelry industry, “Go after business! Don’t be afraid! Become better at what you do! Attack! Attack! Attack!” Glenn preaches that now is the time to become more aggressive than ever in pursuing business. Most jewelry companies in these economic times will cut back on marketing, cut back on inventory, cut back on payroll. This is all done under seemingly sound business principles. Glenn Rothman couldn’t agree less.
As I have been listening to Mr. Rothman, my mind has shifted to The Church…
It is always time for The Church to stand up and be the true Bride of Christ that she is, but now, with fear being taught on every television news program, with McCain and Obama playing the blame game, and with families trying to figure out what bills to pay and what bills not to, it is NOT time for The Church to become conservative!
The Church, the Bride of Jesus Christ, needs to lift her head up, follow God and lead people to Jesus.
This will not be easy. Leadership never is. Jesus went to the cross knowing that in 2008 people were going to be scared.
In 2001, the American Church had a historic opportunity. Post 9/11 church services were filled to capacity with God’s scared children searching for answers. The American Church saw attendance spike to record highs after 9/11, and now, only seven years later, church attendance is lower than it was before 9/11/01. That is sad. God allowed His church the opportunity, we just didn’t take advantage of it.
Unfortunately, I believe the economic crisis facing our world, specifically our country is going to get worse. God’s children, those who have a relationship with Him and those who do not, are going to be seeking answers to their hardships. Is the church ready to boldly share the answer?
Jesus is not an answer to our problems, Jesus is the answer to our problems.
