Today The New York Times published an article on Aiken. Having the nation’s #1 newspaper publish a positive article on your hometown is a very good thing, but my question to Elizabeth Maker of the New York Times is, “Did you visit the same Aiken where I live?”
Ms Maker explains the charm and beauty of our little town, but did she really get it right?
Read it for yourself:
New York Times 10/10/08: Havens | Aiken, S.C.: Where Horses and Their Riders Winter
What do you think of her Aiken?
I thought the article in the New York times was great. I work for EXIT Olde South Realty in downtown Aiken and we see a lot of horse people and retireees moving here from both the north and up from south Florida. Aiken is located half-way between the north and south and far enough inland to avoid hurricanes and tropical storms. Aiken is big on the arts and entertainment and the writer really captured the downtown atmosphere. Aiken is a great place to live and play!
