In Isaiah 6 we learn that King Uzziah dies. Why does that matter?
King Uzziah was King over his land for 52 years. During his reign, his country experienced amazing prosperity. The country enjoyed the comfort that King Uzziah provided through his leadership and stabilty. When the King died, panick hit the people.
In this time of economic uncertainty, in this time when people did not know what tomorrow would bring, in this time when people wondered if they were going to have food for their family, in this time when the country was questioning the new leadership of its military, in this time when people were panicking… any of this sound familiar???… Isaiah received a visit from God.
After an amazing encounter where Isaiah cried out to God explaining his total unworthiness, God heals Isaiah from all his guilt, his pain and his fears.
THEN Isaiah overhears God ask, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”
Isaiah jumps, “Here I am. Send me.”
Are you ready to drop all the guilt of your past? Maybe the better question is, “Am I ready to drop all the guilt of my past?” We don’t need to have a God encounter like Isaiah did to be cleansed, Jesus took care of that by defeating the Cross.
God in all His Trinity, The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit, is asking, “Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?”
Are you ready to answer God?
