I was talking with Pastor Tommy about the Sunday when Bishop Long announced NewBirth Augusta.
It was a great day full of fun and excitement, but as we are now a a few weeks removed, it is interesting to look back and see what God orchestrated in the two Sunday services of that day.
From the NewBirth Youth leading praise and worship, to the local public school Principals speaking, to Bishop Long’s message, it seems that God orchestrated everything to fit perfectly into the vision and passion that He has instilled in Pastor Tommy.
Pastor T has a heart for children, youth and young adults. Pastor told me a long time ago that a non traditional praise and worship style was going to be needed to reach the up and coming generations. With the NewBirth youth leading praise and worship that day it was as if God was just confirming Pastor has NBA on the right path.
You may not know this but Pastor taught school before he joined Bishop Long at NewBirth. Pastor’s heart to see the school system revitalized, or completely reinvented, is amazing. The day of the NBA announcement two local Principals spoke to the NewBirth congregation asking for the congregations help. Again God was confirming Pastor’s heart.
The Sunday of the NBA announcement Bishop Long introduced the ”Love like Him, Live like Him, Lead like Him” vision. As Bishop explained, this vision is from God and it is God’s call to all of NewBirth. How exciting is it that God chose the Sunday of the NBA announcement to have Bishop reveal this mandate?
Thank God for someone with a heart for the youth!
